About Us
My husband Todd and I started a love affair with big dogs shortly after we were married when we adopted our big mutt Bart. Bart was what we were told a Lab / Rottie mix but a lot of people said he looked to have Great Dane in him too. Bart was a super special guy. He kept our feet warm on cold nights, was a great cuddle buddy, watched over the kids like a hawk and gave us countless laughs....he was the dog everyone wanted. Sadly at the young age of 7 our boy lost his battle with bone cancer. Prior to his passing my husband had discussed with me many times the possibility breeding dogs. Once I softened to the idea he began researching the right breed for us. He wanted a dog that possessed all the great traits our boy Bart had and all fingers pointed to English Mastiffs. Then it was time to find the right breeder. After about 6 months of talking to numerous breeders and studying bloodlines he came across Duane Carter from Merovingian Mastiffs and Nancy Walker from Lazy D Mastiffs. He owes a lot to these two wonderful people, without them, their time, patience and very good advice he would not be who and where he is today. Thank you both so much.
Breeding Mastiffs My husband and I take our breeding program very seriously. Each and every dog we breed is health tested. We test hips, elbows, patella, heart, and thyroid. All tests are then submitted to the OFA for certification. We also get our dogs CERF Certified. If need be in some cases we'll even test for PRA, if a dog in the line has not had the test done. We work collectively with our Vet to evaluate the health of our Bitches before breeding. Our puppies are whelped in our home and are handled from day one. When a puppy is ready to go off to it's new forever home the puppy is well socialized with other dogs and children. If you are seriously interested in a puppy from Kaigan Mastiffs you will need to fill out a Puppy Application and submit it for review. Just click on the Puppy Application tab and when you are done submitt. We carefully screen all applicants to make sure we are placing compatible puppies with capable people. That is part of our commitment to our dogs and the lives we are responsible for. We sell all of our puppies on a Limited AKC registration unless you qualify otherwise. This type of registration requires you to Spay/ Neuter your dog by the time it is 6 months old. I will not release any AKC papers until I receive a Certificate of Sterilization from your vet proving the surgery has been completed. We also offer a two year health guarantee on the dog. For more information regarding our health guarantee call or email and a copy of our contract will be forwarded to you.
Breeding Bulldogs: In Febuary of 2010 we welcomed our first Bulldog litter. Breeding Bulldogs is a new concept for us here at Kaigan Mastiffs but is a natural choice considering how well Bulldogs and Mastiffs co- exist together. We work closely with other Bulldog breeders as well as our wonderful reproductive vet to ensure we are breeding healthy dogs. We do have the vision of producing many Chanpions from our Bulldog lines.
We are also on Facebook. Just type in Kaigan English Bulldogs and English Mastiffs into the search box on your facebook home page and become a fan today!
